Vector Nails

VectorVector Horseshoe Nails

Vector nails have an established position in the farrier market and are recognized for their consistently clean finish and quality.  The product line includes race, city, slim and regular head styles that fit many of the shoes in the market.  Every farrier develops a certain “feel” when driving nails and the material and design of the Vector brand nails have established it as the first choice for many farriers.

3.5 RaceSlim Nails

Slim blade nails are used primarily for riding horses. The slimmer blade is preferred by many farriers because it displaces less hoof and reduces damage to the wall. The head sizes are often the same as their City head counterpart because they are being used in the same shoes.

3.5 RaceRace Head Nails

Nails with the Race designation are used most often on Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse or Standardbred race horses that wear light steel or aluminum shoes. These horses are often shod on 3 or 4 week intervals and the small shank of the nail creates less damage to the hoof. Small size shoes used for ponies, yearlings and smaller breeds also may be punched for race nails.

3.5 RaceE-Head Nails

E-Slim are European style nails. These fit well in shoes like the Kerckhaert DF and SSP series that were made first for the European market but found their way into the American market, especially in the Hunter and Jumper discipline. Some farriers prefer to punch their hand made shoes for E-heads because of the symmetrical nature of the nail. There is also a feeling that an E-head nail has more strength because the shank comes out of the center of the head, with slightly more mass.

3.5 RaceRegular Head Nails

Regular head nails have a larger head than the City styles. The shank of the nail is also proportionately larger than City styles. They are used for resets but are also used for horses that are working on difficult terrain or have traction devices that create more stress on the nails. Larger regular head nails are used for Draft or other work horses. They are also used for gaited horse disciplines that are shod with thicker steel.

3.5 RaceSpecial Nails

The Special designation nails have smaller heads that fit well into sliding plates to minimize amount of head that is above surface of shoe.

3.5 RaceVX Nails

The VX style nails are a hybrid head design that is similar to the E-head but is more rectangular. VX nails are often used in rim or concave style shoes, but are used in European style flat shoes as well.
