3.5 RaceSisal Wheel

  • Layered cotton and sisal fibers
  • Used for blending surfaces prior to final sharpening and removing file markings
  • Use with Gray Compound
  • Dimensions:
    6" or 8" diameter, 1/2" thick, 1/2" arbor hole, 1/4" spiral sewn
  • It is important to note the wheel must be used in combination with polishing compounds

  • Used for blending surfaces prior to final sharpening and removing file markings
  • No need to use compound
  • Dimensions:

  • Please note: the wheels should be used in combination with polishing compounds

Felt Wheel

  • Made from Medium density felt
  • Used for final polishing of knife edges and tools
  • Typically used with White or Green Compound
  • Supplied with a groove for sharpening the hook of a knife
  • Best choice for final polishing of hoof knives
  • Dimensions: 6" diameter, 3/4" thick supplied with telescoping bushing for various diameter shafts

Cotton Wheel

  • Many farriers have been using these wheel types instead of the felt wheel for knife honing
  • Require the use of a buffing compound
  • 1/2" arbor
  • Fit our 1/4 Baldor Buffer units
  • Dimensions: 6" diameter, ?3/4" thick

 

Compounds

Green Compound

  • Chromium Oxide – Fine
  • Used for final polishing or sharpening
  • Used in combination with a Cotton Wheel or Felt Wheel
  • Most effective compound for final polishing and luster on very hard carbon steel knives and stainless steel knives

 

White Compound

  • Aluminum Oxide – Medium
  • Used for final polishing or final sharpening
  • Used in combination with a Cotton Wheel or Felt Wheel

 

Grey Compound

  • Aluminum Oxide – Coarse
  • Coarsest compound used for blending or removing file marks
  • Used with Sisal Wheel
